Is there a trial version?

Yes, download the trial software here: http://www.timeclocksoft.com/download.php. It is completely functional and limited to one employee.

Do I need a barcode reader/scanner?

You do not need a barcode reader or scanner. The program allows you to manually enter the employee ID numbers, project numbers, etc. However, it is designed to allow creation of employee and job cards which can be easily scanned with any barcode reader.
Employees can clock in and out with a keyboard by typing the letter “E” before their Employee ID Number, for example: “E123456” Similarly, to enter a job type the letter “J” before the Job Number, for example: “J369”

I don't have Microsoft Access 2000, will it work?

Yes. For users who do not have Microsoft Office or Microsoft Access, a copy of the Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime software is included. To install, run the “Setup.exe” file in the AccessRuntime2000 directory on the CD.

Can I clock in with my Microsoft Fingerprint Reader?

Yes, if you have a Microsoft Fingerprint Reader you can use it to clock in to the Time Clock. Simply follow the installation instructions, and select GrFinger as the fingerprint reader model in the Setup screen.

Can I run the program in more than one computer?

Yes, you can setup several computers with the Time Clock, and have them all save the clock-in data to one central database over a network. OnTime consists of two complementary programs: the Time Clock (where employees clock in and out) and the Manager. You may have Time Clock running on one computer and manage the database using the Manager from another computer on the network. If you don't have a network, you can copy the data files between the two computers.

Can I create my own reports?

OnTime runs on an Access 2000 database which will allow you to create your own reports and customize the included reports all you want. However, please note that our support is limited to the original OnTime software and we cannot support any changes you make to the program.

How many employees does the program allow?

You can add an unlimited number of employees. Our customers vary between 10-20 employees and over 100 employees.

How many jobs/projects can I have?

You can have an unlimited number of jobs or projects and your employees can clock in and out for unlimited amount of jobs.

Can I install the program in more than one computer?

We sell our software in individual licenses that allow you to install the program in one computer. However, you may access it from any other computer linked to the network. Should you need more than one Time Clock you may purchase additional licenses at a discount.

Can I export the reports to Word or Excel or any other formats?

Yes. Because OnTime uses a Microsoft Access database to store information, it is very easy to export any report to any other Microsoft Office program as well as text file.

Does the software calculate overtime, lunch break, payroll taxes, ...?

Due to the large variety of ways companies calculate payroll, we offer basic reports which can be modified or used as input into more complex payroll systems. For example, many in our user community input the "hours worked" from the payroll report into their accounting software such as Peachtree or Quickbooks which in turn calculates payroll taxes, overtime, holiday pay, etc.

Why do I get the error "OnTime Time Clock can't move the focus to the control Image9" when clocking in with the Microsoft fingerprint reader?

Make sure you installed U.are.U Integrator Platinum 2.0.2. Also try typing Ctrl-Alt-Del, find the process "DPAgnt.exe" and click End Process.

How do I connect or clock in from a remote computer?

1. Share the file C:\Program Files\OnTime Biometric\OnTime_be.mde on the main computer (how you do this depends on your operating system and networking settings)
2. Install the Time Clock software on the remote computer
3. Click "Update Link to Database" in Setup
4. Locate the file "ontime_be.mde" on the main office computer over the network and click ok
Now when they clock on in the remote computer it will save the data to the database on the main computer.
